The name ‘LVX’ is ancient Latin for ‘light’. It is an acronym for "Light Visually ‘X’-transceiving".

LVX is the inventor, patent holder and pioneer of ‘Li-Fi’ technology.

Where ‘Wi-Fi’ uses traditional microwave energy to convey data in a traditional radio-wave medium; ‘Li-Fi’ uses visible light, the same light that enables our sense of vision, as a communication medium that can augment or replace ‘Wi-Fi’.

This may sound futuristic, but it's not; LVX commercialized and began selling our service in January of 2009. We have been running beta and customer sites continuous for over a decade reliably.

In the following pages, LVX will propose an option, a service, worth your consideration. We at LVX hope to give an understanding of this equitable proposition and will continue to enhance its competent presentation.

Save Money, Save Energy; it's the Future

Before relamping your facility, consider LVX Li-Fi service; it will forever change the way you see light, period.

LVX Li-Fi service begins with the installation of Li-Fi enabled LED lamps and ballasts included in a monthly billing unit referred to as a `DLh'. As a power company bills electricity in a "kilo Watt hour" or `kWh', LVX bills light in a "Data-Lumen hour" or `DLh'. The lighting and its controls are vastly superior to lighting commonly being used today while significantly reducing your facility's operational lighting cost.

LVX Li-Fi lamps produce light that is modulated similar to fiber-optics. Imperceptible to people, ordinary light becomes a transmission medium of wireless Internet, network and cell phone traffic without the use of traditional radio waves. It is similar to Wi-Fi with far greater capacity.

Better Management, Security and Control

LVX Li-Fi service can offer facility lighting in any form presented in today's market, with many new forms being developed including security. This enables better management of light and how it effects the occupants of your facility.

The emerging technology of lighting, with its newly enabled capabilities, will come to be expected by the occupants and visitors of your facility as light increasingly does so much more then just illuminate.

Best quality of light; proven to make a difference

Numerous studies show, including NASA studies of astronaut space travel, that both quality of light and how it is administered can greatly affect the outcome of people's performance in every area of life. LVX Li-Fi service incorporates these new capabilities with their future upgrades as they are discovered, develop and become available.

Future of Lighting    People will expect more than lighting from light

Because LVX Li-Fi service is a smart system, it can do things beyond normal lighting; it's an smart communication network platform. LVX maintains and upgrades your lamps, meeting future platform offerings with optimal performance.

As your cell phone became so much more with the advent of "Apps", your facility will too. Soon your choice of helpful and cost saving applications will become endless, development has already begun. As occupants and visitors begin using these convenient applications, such as internet access and cell phone usage, LVX can rebate your facility augmenting or covering the DLh billing costs; no other lighting service can do this for you.

Before finalizing your facility's relamping plan, discover the LVX platform. Realize what a significant experience it can create for the occupants of your facility while reducing energy usage and expense.

LVX Frequently Asked Questions

LVX Background
What is groundbreaking about LVX System?
LVX technology both lights our spaces and, using the same lighting photons we see with, communicates wirelessly like a fiber optic cable without the fiber strand; we are able to illuminate and create communication “Hot-Spots”. LVX System offers a two-for-one communication service proposition that will deliver secure unlimited data bandwidth and more energy efficient, economical lighting. It’s a proposition that can’t be beat with traditional technology.
What does LVX mean?
LVX is an acronym for Light Visually X-Transceiving that is derived from the ancient word for light in Latin, “LUX”. In ancient times, the Latin character “U” was written as a “V”; consequently light was originally spelled “LVX”. The X in LVX is derived from the common radio vernacular to denote the capability of both transmit and receive known as “Transceiving”. “T” = Transmit, “R” = Receive, “X” = Transceive.
What is Visible Light Communication?
VLC technology begins with the LVX Light fixture. Unlike all other lights, LVX lights contain electronics and software that enables streams of data to transmit through free space on modulated light photons; the data literally rides in the light. These organized photons emanate from the light fixture to provide a high-speed, fiberless communication that enables many new connectivity and security services. LVX System has standardized the term “fiberless” to differentiate between wireless, or a “wire-free” connection. “Fiberless” describes our fiber optic connection without the fiber strand.
Who invented Visible Light Communication?
LVX System’s founder and CEO, John Pederson, is the inventor of two-way broadband VLC. The LVX System of Companies is the first to develop the practical embodiment and application of VLC through the use of architectural and general lighting. The LVX System of Companies is pioneering the market introduction of VLC; we are first.
Is LVX a service or a product?
LVX System provides a new commercial service of light. Communication and security are also key components of this new service offering. LVX has defined and leads the market in VLC. As power companies generate and sell electrons in a familiar unit termed as “Watt hour” or “kilo Watt hour”. LVX sells visible light photons capable of communication as a unit of a “Data Lumen hour” or “DLh”. A Data Lumen hour is equal to one million lumen hours (for manageable calculation) with the capability of fibreless data communication. LVX supplies the lighting apparatus that comprises the LVX System. These lights and their supporting apparatus are placed within any facility and produces DLh for the customer and the occupants of the facility.

Lights will change significantly in the future; obsolescent will be the concern in a long-term investment. LVX service assumes this responsibility and keeps infrastructural apparatus updated to accommodate all new service offerings.

It’s a service.
LVX Lighting, Energy and Technology
How does LVX System use LEDs to provide smart lighting solutions?
The traditional manner in which we think about illumination is obsolete; lights are now so much more than lighting. Traditional Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) provide more energy efficient illumination than incandescent or fluorescent lighting. The LVX Lighting Apparatus utilizes LEDs to provide energy efficient illumination, but more importantly, its ingenuity lies in its capacity to securely transmit VLC including data, voice and images that gives LVX System an equitably superior two-for-one service proposition. LVX System provides the most energy efficient lights in the world and provides the only business service model to leverage their patented visible light communication to your benefit.
When does an LVX System customer start reducing energy?
An LVX System customer starts reducing energy expenses on the day LVX installation is complete and service is activated and commissioned. There are no installation or activation costs for a standard LVX installation.
How does LVX System serve facilities?
With proper approval, the LVX customer does not pay any upfront purchase and installations costs; return on investment is no longer the consideration. LVX System maintains, replaces and upgrades all of its infrastructural apparatus to accommodate all new and future service offerings. This provides our customers with immediate cost reductions and many new capabilities. The quality of light rendition is higher than fluorescent and most all LED lamps. Color correction and the ability to change light color along with new control features are included.
LVX Visible Light Communication (VLC)
What makes the LVX Lighting Apparatus different than traditional wireless communication networks?
Most wireless communications today are produced from traditional Radio Frequency or “RF”. Even the fastest of these RF data transmission networks cannot compete with the data throughput of visible light communication using photons. The footprints of radio wave wireless are large and must be shared; reducing data transmission capability. Light has a very controlled footprint and does not overlap or interfere allowing more data in the controlled space.
How is LVX System’s communication service more secure than traditional Radio Frequency?
Traditional Radio Frequency “RF”, used on wireless networks, has a large footprint that transmits through walls and buildings, and is susceptible to eavesdropping by unauthorized users. For this reason, financial institutions, the military, healthcare facilities and government contractors prohibit use of traditional radio wave wireless technology to transmit highly sensitive data.

LVX System’s patented visible light communication technology offers more security than radio wave by transmitting data in a defined area that can be controlled precisely. The LVX Lighting Apparatus provides a narrow and direct stream of data transfer that never leaves the room.
How does LVX network and deliver the Internet to its customers?
LVX will supply network and Internet access through traditional means such as microwave, fiber optic, copper lines and others to a customer facility.
LVX Data Lumens
What is a lumen?
A “Lumen” is a measure of light. (The SI unit of Luminous flux, equal to the amount of light emitted per second in a unit solid angle of one steradian from a uniform source of one candela.)
What is a Data Lumen Hour “DLh”?
A Data Lumen hour or “DLh” is a term invented by LVX as a practical measurement of light. It is 1,000,000 lumens spent over a one-hour period of time with LVX fiberless data carrier capability within that same measured amount of light.
What is a Data Lumen minute?
Communicating with Light: Li-Fi "Data-Lumen Access"
This wireless Li-Fi data plan is billed in a unit called a "Data Lumen minute" or DLm. Data Lumen minutes are organized in plans similar to cell phone plans.
Connecting or networking a data device to the LVX System Li-Fi Platform is as simple as plugging an LVX supplied USB memory stick looking "Li-Fi Key" into the USB port on your device. Supporting driver software is then downloaded and you are ready to begin accessing the network.
To set up a Li-Fi DLm account, use the contact feature within this website.
What is a Data Lumen Access “DLA”?
Data Lumen Access “DLA” is enabled equipment capable of broadband communication using visible light to access the LVX System for networking, Internet access and other data communication schemes.
